In a major move to enhance ease of travel and reduce toll-related delays, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the launch of a FASTag Based Annual Pass. Priced at just Rs 3,000, the new pass will allow up to 200 trips annually on select routes. This initiative is set to benefit regular commuters, especially those who travel frequently on the same stretch, offering significant savings and convenience. The FASTag system continues to evolve, making toll collection faster and more efficient across India’s national highways.

What is a FASTag Based Annual Pass?

The FASTag Based Annual Pass is a newly introduced toll payment system designed for daily and regular highway users. Under this scheme, a one-time payment of Rs 3,000 will cover up to 200 round trips annually (Valid Only National Highway) on a designated route. This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of commuters, especially those traveling between fixed routes like home-to-office or intercity commutes.

Addressing the media, Nitin Gadkari stated that this new FASTag pass is a step forward in India’s journey towards smart and efficient highway infrastructure. Who Can Benefit the Most?

  • School or College Buses (Only Private)

Who Can Not Benefit ?

  • Commercial Vehicles are not Eligible
  • One, Two or Three Wheelers Vehicles
  • Local, State Highways, District Roads, Rural Roads, Border Roads, Expressways
  • Renewal can be done only once in a year i.e. on 15th August every year. If you complete 200 journeys in 100 days, then renewal will not be done again.

How to Avail the Annual FASTag Pass?

  1. Visit the Official NHAI/FASTag Portal
  2. Login with your FASTag account
  3. Choose โ€œAnnual Passโ€ option
  4. Select your frequent route or toll plaza
  5. Pay Rs 3,000 and activate the plan
  6. Confirmation will be sent via SMS/Email

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The pass is non-transferable to other routes
  • Itโ€™s valid only for one vehicle and route
  • Once 200 trips are exhausted, normal FASTag charges apply
